My 2000 Volvo v70 xc AWD with 141,000 has be making a can getting kicked sound rattaling and vibrating from the right rear tire area. It makes the noise and vibrates when coasting or braking . What do you thick it could be before a take it into the shop.

1. Rattling and vibrating when your foot is NOT in the brake petal indicates worn out rear shock absorbers or a suspension link bushing is worn and soft. Shock-absorbers on the entire car should be changed every 75,000 miles.
Rattling and vibrating while braking indicates warped brake rotors.

The car will have to brougt to a dealer, because that information can only be changed by volvo computer\scan tool.
There should be no software involved.
